1823 German marriage record.
« on: Thursday 13 February 14 00:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone could help me. I'm looking at the marriage  record of my ggg grandparents in Eschwege, Hesse in 1823. I know that it says David Berlepsch and Margaretha Philippine Morell were married and it states that Margaretha came from Friedrichsdorf. I already know that David's father was Christoph Berlepsch and at the time they are working as carters. I am particularly interested if it names Margaretha's parents at all as it would really help me track her down. It looks as if might be saying that Margaretha's father was Wilhelm Morell, but, I can't make it out for sure. It also looks as if it has been annotated at the side to include the birth and death date of the couple. I already know David was born in 1797 and died in 1837. Anyone who is better at deciphering than me and could confirm any of that would be a great help.

Many Thanks

Faye.

Copulirte im Jahr 1823
December 26
David Berlepsch, Kutscher dahier, weiland
Christoph Berlepsch Fuhrmannes allhier und
deßen noch lebenden Witwe Anna Marga-
retha, geb. ?Grebe, nachgelaßener ehel. Sohn
mit Margarethe Philippine weiland Wilhelm
Morell, Ackermannes zu Friedrichsdorf, und
deßen gleichfalls verstorbenen Ehefrau, Anna
?Christine geb. ?Fülling/Fälling nachgelaßenen ehel. Tochter.

So yes, Margarethe Philippine is daughter of Wilhelm and Anna ?Christine (both deceased by the time of the marriage).
The dates are indeed the birth/death dates of the couple, David 14.2.1797-5.2.1837, Margarethe P. ??.5.1796-1.12.1856.
