CORBIN, DANIEL, DAVID, WILLIAM
« on: Tuesday 21 June 05 02:00 BST (UK) »
HELLO,
Lookup, forgive me if I make a mistake as I am not sure what I am suppose to do, but I am giving it a try.

Now I am looking for the Corbin, some spell it as Corban.  I believe they were from Dublin, Ireland  but not a 100% sure.  I know William and I believe Daniel, was a soldiers in the British Army and served in Newfoundland, Canada. After William completing his tour of duty in Newfoundland he was granted a parcel of lnand in Nova Scotia.

We also know that there were four brothers that came to NFLD, Canada and the other names we are not sure, We also don't know if the parent came or not.  William Corbin was dob. 1786. and we beleive he was the first Corbin in Nova Scotia.
Daniel or David We believe he married a girl called Sarah ?????.  Daniel was born in Ireland and dob 1760.
Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again,
Shirley Wright,

Hi Shirley...although I am writing from Australia,I was born in Newfoundland.I would really like to hear from  you re Corbin family. I don't have a lot of information, but I do have a Daniel, a Sarah, and others, of the right vintage.
I have been researching  my  GREENE family of POINT VERDE , Newfoundland, all over the genealogy places, and you are  the first   person I have found connected to the Corbin side of my Greene family.
Briefly, about 1778 my ancestor John Green moved from Boston to Placentia,Newfoundland. With his brother he started nearby Point Verde. Later he married the widow of his friend John Corbin, and of course these  two together (John Green and Widow Corbin) started the huge line of Point Verde Greenes.(e added in Point Verde).
Of course she was  not born Corbin, but I am tracing her that way because I have no idea of her maiden name. Perhaps you have some  idea of what that might have been, and I can give you what I have on your Corbins. My email address is all over the genealogy sites,so I don't mind printing it here. Thanks...Ward/
