There sons record of birth is spelt William fingerneisst I contacted the transcriber to correct it but was told I had insufficient proof lol

jane sorry only just saw your previous post about franz/frank fingerneissl, this was his uncle.  Hes another mystery altogether lol, he went to america where he settled in bexar texas. From what i can gather with records i have found is that possibly his wife marie died sometime between 1901 and 1909 because my cousin found a marriage record in early 1910 to a louise herzinger in medina county. he appears with her on the 1910 census and also on the 1920 census but then disappears after 1921 where i found them on the town directory. You would think with such an unusual name it would be easy to find them

Not sure if this has been mentioned.

There is a mention in the 1913 Kelly's Directory Brighton and Hove of Jsph Fangerneissl - Shopkpr -Essex Street.

The online transcriptions of the birth, marriage and death indexes must be a true transcription of what is in the index.

If the index entry is spelt incorrectly on freebmd, then the best you can do is attach a postem detailing the error..

It is not for freebmd, FindMyPast or Ancestry to correct the entries in the GRO indexes.

thank you sandra, the family trees are those of josef's wife's family and it actually gives a lot of her family and a few generations

Just to confirm what dawnsh says.  I do transcriptions for FreeBMD and we are told that we have to type exactly what is written in the index.  I've seen some wonderful errors, but I'm not allowed to correct them.
