Godd thinking, Jane.  ;)  However, they don't appear to have any more information regarding Josef than Dalibabe already has  :'(

The only information I have is from living family members, I have sent off for his naturalisation records which will hopefully contain more information. I don't have subscription but have noted the various trees containing his name, however I think they are Susan alders family his wife.

SO  :-\  Why can't I find, on FreeBMD, any marriage for either Fingerneissl or Alder - 1910 - 1930?

Ah, ha!!  Marriage entry is for Susan M Alder and Josef A. Fingureisse or Josef A. Fingerseisse - December quarter, Wantage, page 769  ;D

Your right BumbleB but if they are direct descendants they might have some oral history which might help.
I had a look on Ellis Island & found a Franz & Marie Fingerneissl both aged 29 from Linz.  A married couple.  They were destined to go to San Antonio, Texas.  They were on SS Southwark & arrived on 27/8/1901.  Worth taking a look at the page as I can't make out his occupation & a couple of other things.
Any connection Dalibabe?

I agree - but Josef's surname has been transcribed by the GRO as Fingureisse and Fingerseisse , which is why I couldn't find the marriage intially.   :-[
