looking at the census they were still in England 1901 when he was age 11yrs
do you want info on his family and him before going to N.Z??
Hi, yes i would like a little further info before they came to nz. I have a little from inquiring on the England-Staff site. I did hear from my sister in law, who i am doing this for, that she thought a couple of family members had come to NZ before the others. I also think that one went to another country to, maybe Canada.
Hi spacecookie
Looks like most of census info for BOSSON and HARRIS families has already been posted to your Staffordshire thread ??
1901 UK census (in case You haven't got this one).

Lydia - wife - 38 - b.
Derbyshire ?*- Alton
Frederick - son - 19 - Potter's printer (earthen.) - worker - b. Staffs. - Tunstall

--------------------
James and Lydia married in 1881 - oldest child appears to be Frederick, born c. 1882 ? George A. BOSSON is not with family in 1901 - he left for New Zealand in September 1901.
All the other children of James and Lydia seem to be accounted for, so not sure which one of them might have gone to Canada
Edited to add: * Lydia's birthplace shown on this census return as Derbyshire - Alton ... but all other census records (including in her maiden name) show "Staffordshire - Alton".
