Honoria HORAN   ???

Found this Christchurch marriage for a HORAN daughter.

22 November 1911 at Catholic Cathedral, ChCh.
Mary Ellen HORAN (28) to Joseph Stanislaus FOLEY

Bride's parents:  Owen HORAN (engine driver) and Sarah Theresa (nee CUNNINGHAM)
Witnesses to marriage:
 - John Aloysius HORAN, plasterer
- Honoria HORAN - tailoress

---------------------------

Suggestive that this Honoria is probably the sister of the bride above ?

Hi spacecookie

... can you satisfy my curiosity, please ?  ;)

Just interested to know why your sister-in-law is following this Thomas BOSSON line, if none of his children are known ???    [Usual practice is to work backwards from a known person. ]

*   Or does she have the name of maybe one child to Thomas and Honoria ???

  Cheers

Here's the link to Hawera Cemetery :

http://public.stdc.govt.nz/cemeteries/

I notice that there is also a burial at Hawera (RSA section) for a "Thomas William BOSSON" - aged 38 years, died 1961.

Born about 1923 ... could he have been a child of Thomas and Honoria ???

This entry in the NZ  WWII Nominal rolls :

BOSSON - Tom. William
- single - residing at 34 ? Bay Street, Petone (Wellington)

Next-of-Kin :   Mrs M. GILBERT - 234 Princes Road, Hawera (s)   [(s) = sister ]

*   Do you know of this "Mrs GILBERT"   ???

Hi again

re:   Honoria BOSSON.

Obviously we only have her 1932 "age at death" > 42 years > born circa 1890 to work with at present, in this search.

NZ Death

1932 - BOSSON - Honora Cecilia - 42 years

And > age 42 > given on Hawera Cemetery record.

Have since found the birth registration for the child of Sarah and Owen HORAN (who lived at Christchurch) ... although it is 1885 > with date of birth being 6 January 1885.

1885 / 4498  -  HOREN [sic] - Norah*
Parents:   Sarah and Owen

*  NOTE:  Name is recorded as "Norah" - which is a diminutive of the name(s) Honora / Honorah/ Honoria etc.

Didn't find any HORAN (or var.) deaths or marriages for this child, so assume she is the Honoria HORAN residing with parents and siblings in Christchurch 1911 - 1914.
[Note:   There is a birth of a "Norah Cecilia HORAN" (1899) but she was baptised in Greymouth and has different parents. ]

At this stage I'm not ruling out that the Christchurch Honoria HORAN, was the same lady who married Thomas BOSSON in 1917.

She sent me the birth cert for Thomas Bosson so i started from there. She will have some names so i will get her to send me what she does know, it will make it easier. Her maiden name was Bosson and Honoria and Thomas were her Grandparents.I do know her father was Owen Paterick Bosson.I am sorry, i should have waited for the rest of her info, but thank you for the help.

Hi spacecookie

... thanks for the clarification.

Funnily enough, I was just this minute, working on getting further info for Owen Patrick.  ;D

Rather suspected that he may be a son > given the name "Owen" > and that same name was also that of the father of Honoria HORAN from Christchurch.  ;)

So, I think it's looking very likely that the HORAN connection is that of the people (Owen and Sarah) from Christchurch.  :-\

Yes any more info you can give will assist.

Hi

Of the BOSSON family trees that I can see on ancestry.com, most don't offer a lot of info (for BOSSON children - born in NZ).   And none of the trees appear to have the names of parents James Rhead and Lydia - so I suspect that the researching of the family has extended (yet) beyond NZ.

There are though some message board enquiries re: BOSSON @ ancestry.

If you "google"  New Zealand family history + BOSSON (or similar) you'll be able to read them and maybe connect to those researchers.

[One of the researchers mentions the names of Ethel / George / Violet / Annie / Frederick BOSSON etc. ... and also suggests that Thomas B. didn't marry and can't be found ?  ;D   So you now will have some info to share with them.   :) ]
