                                    **  CORRECTION  **

Hi  ... not your fault at all DORAN  :) ... but just correcting the ship's name for the above records.

In both instances (1903 and 1905) the ship was the "Ionic".

[Passenger list indexes at ancestry.com  are to "blame" with mistranscriptions  of "Ionie" and "Jonio".  ]   ;D

looking at the census they were still in England 1901 when he was age 11yrs
do you want info on his family and him before going to N.Z??
Hi, yes i would like a little further info before they came to nz. I have a little from inquiring on the England-Staff site. I did hear from my sister in law, who i am doing this for, that she thought a couple of family members had come to NZ before the others. I also think that one went to another country to, maybe Canada. It is the right Thomas Bosson that married a Horan ( re another reply to my question on these posts) as she told me the name Horan as well. thank you very much for the info everybody.

Hi spacecookie

Honoria (Honora) BOSSON died on 23 May 1932 - aged 42 years (born about 1890).

She is buried at the Hawera General cemetery (Roman Catholic Section).

There is also a stillborn BOSSON infant buried in same section of the cemetery - buried 22 August 1927.

More info to come.

NZ BDM (online)

Birth registration :

1927 / 7416 - BOSSON - N/R (name not recorded)
S (S = stillborn)
Parents :   Honora and Thomas

----------

Because Honoria and Thomas probably didn't have children until after their marriage in 1916, you won't be able to look for issue on the NZ BDM (online).   [Births only available up to "today's date", 1914. ]

Here's the link to Hawera Cemetery :

http://public.stdc.govt.nz/cemeteries/

BOSSON - Honora Cecilia - aged 42 years

BOSSON - Stillborn infant.

I notice that there is also a burial at Hawera (RSA section) for a "Thomas William BOSSON" - aged 38 years, died 1961.

Born about 1923 ... could he have been a child of Thomas and Honoria ???

Honoria HORAN

Mmm ... not sure I can assist too much with determining parents ???

An unusual name (distinctly Irish) ... sometimes spelled as "Honora" (Honorah).

There is an "Honoria HORAN" who first appears on an electoral roll at Christchurch in 1911 (which would be a good match for Honora BOSSON born about 1890 - and voting for first time at age 21 in 1911.)  [Actually she's listed on both the ChCh East and ChCh South in 1911 though details are the same - spinster living at 81 Wilson's Road. ]

In 1914 - Christchurch East she's again listed and there are others (probably her family) at same address.

HORAN - Eugene Aloysius - postal official
HORAN - Mary Helena - spinster
HORAN - Honoria - spinster
HORAN - Owen - engine driver
HORAN - Sarah - married

I can't see a New Zealand Birth registration for Honoria (or var.) HORAN ???   (Maybe though surname has been miss-spelled ? )   Will look again.

The following are the children registered to Sarah and Owen HORAN (who resided in Christchurch).

1883 - HORAN - Mary Ellen   [possibly the Mary Helena HORAN on e/rolls? ]

1888 - HORAN - William John

1893 - HORAN - Euguent [sic] Aloysius

1899 - HORAN - Eileen Josephine

Parents:    Sarah and Owen

also ...

1885 - HOREN - Norah
Parents:   Sarah and Owen

1896 - HORAN - May Philomena
Parents:   Jane (probably a transcription error ?)  and Owen HORAN

[Can confirm that this May Philomena HORAN is on e/rolls at Christchurch at various times living with parents Sarah and Owen and with brother Eugene. ]

-------

Probable NZ Marriage of parents ?

Owen HORAN - Sarah CUNNINGHAM -- 1882

[Will have another look at the Roman Catholic baptisms for Canterbury area to see if I can spot Honoria. ]
