I've been researching the Walter MacKay family of Cyderhall, and it is a doozy. He was married at least three, possibly four times. His first wife was Isabel Murray, and I'm descended from their eldest daughter Margaret. That could explain why you had Fanny's maiden name down as Murray--someone could have conflated the two wives. All his other wives were MacKays by birth as well as marriage. I've got records of his children from his first three marriages here:
