John Morton m Elizabeth Bagshaw
« on: Tuesday 21 January 14 18:09 GMT (UK) »
We have an entry in the family bible stating John Morton b 1790 marrying Elizabeth Bagshaw in Rotherham 28th November 1814.
However other clues have John Morton m Elizabeth Morley 24th October 1811 in Doncaster.
Is it possible that he married two Elizabeths in succession?

the entry in pallots for the 1811 marriage says john Morton draper of Sheffield. does that fit with what you know?

We have John Morton b 1790 Bolsterstone Yorkshire. Subsequently his son is a draper in Kirbymoorside, so may well be a fit.
I now need to see when Eliz Morley died - probably childbirth to Miles Spur Morton, I think
Thanks for the extra info though - very helpful

From other input, it looks like John married Eliz Bagshaw while still married to Eliz Morley - so query is now - who do the children come from - William b 1815 to Ann b 1822? My GGGrandfather was born 1821 and apparently to John and Eliz Morley!
Maybe there is a bit of a mix up here?
Any clues - I am stuck here!
Thanks
