It was a very confusing site once in and I did not realise that even though you viewed a record, you still had to pay to go back to that record again, what a con.

Surely this isn't correct?
I have no credits at all at the moment with Scotland's People.
However, I have just successfully viewed a record which I paid for in 2009. All the records I have previously viewed are marked 'paid' and I can view them as many times as I wish.

Please see FAQ's I want to look at an image again. Do I have to pay again?
The answer is NO.

Do not know what I did

But I lost credits for viewing same record twice

And I ordered a copy of the certificate and it cost 12.00

Now I am sure I read somewhere that I could order an uncertified (or even view online) copy of this marriage.  Well I found this site so confusing and frustrating.

Just glad that this is the only Scottish record I have ever and hopefully will never have to get hold of again.

Thanks for all your comments and assistance.  Now just a wait for the cert to arrive!  And Yes, I have had an email from Scotlands People acknowledgeing my order.

Hope you're not put off Scottish research forever! SP's facility to look at records at the click of a button for just a few credits is a wonderful resource for us family historians.

Next time you'll know to select "View" rather than "Order" :)

As Gadget said in reply #8 all you need to do is click on 'view' and you can see the original image online for only 5 credits.

But I lost credits for viewing same record twice

Once you have viewed something it is stored in your 'viewed images' folder (which you can see at the top of the page when you are logged in) and you can see it again for nothing.
