Are there any experts out there on the MDR? 
I've just come back using it at the LMA. The staff are great and helped me in the early stages. But they are also very busy of course so I don't like to KEEP asking them questions if I can help myself.
Although the Research guide indicates that both parties to a transaction are indexed, my (limited) experience seems to indicate that only the 'vendor' actually is.  If that's often the case, then I guess I'm unlikely to find out about my relatives' property 'purchases', only their 'sales',  because I don't know who they acquired them from?

although I cannot specifically answer your question in regards to the actual filing system used by the LMA  , would I would say is to do 1911 census [or any census for that matter] database of the street or area you are looking at.....   then find electoral roll entries and doing some tracking ....

sometimes there rates notices books for areas and it would be an idea to consult those if they exist. Councils do keep some records of addresses and their owners if there were building applications...   you need to mark all your letters to those organisations with Historical Interest only.......or they will get funny about the privacy laws.......     Sometimes having a look at historical Post Office Directories will give an indicator as to who was living at an address and they may in fact be the owner so look at  the scope around the period you wish to get knowledge on.....    say 25 years prior and up until the time you believe there was a transition....

best I can offer  but others specialising in LMA records will know more as they are probably more fimiliar with the setup there...
