Victor, that's great.   The marriage has introduced the Walker family into Marshfield.   Our ancestors come from the Marshfield/Cold Ashton area of Gloucestershire and neighbouring Castle Combe and North Somerset.

Thanks Dave

Hi Dave,
Glad to help. I have various amounts of data for Marshfield & Cold Aston, and also access to North Somerset Marriages 1754-1837. I also do lookups for RootsChatters at Gloucestershire Archives who hold the following PRs:-
Holy Trinity, Cold Aston - Baptisms 1734-1870, Marriages 1734-1837 & Burials 1734-1942. Subsequent PRs are held at Bristol Records Office.
St Mary the Virgin, Marshfield - Baptisms 1558-1970, Marriages 1572-1912 & Burials 1567-1939.
Again, subsequent PRs are held at Bristol Records Office.
If I can be of any further assistance do ask.

Thanks Victor, it's very much appreciated.   I used to do much the same thing when I lived in North Wiltshire, visiting the Records Office in Trowbridge and more recently Chippenham after the move.   Unfortunately I'm unable to do so now since moving to Spain.

I have a family interest in the Milliner family of Cold Ashton, but have only been able to trace as far back as about 1790 as the parish records do not exist before that date (or didn't in Bristol).   Because of this I have been unable to link this family to others outside Cold Ashton.   The earliest I have is Isaac Milliner, born about 1787 and his wife Margaret Wait or Witt who he married 20 April 1812 in Cold Ashton.   As was customary, later members of the family married into Marshfield families such as the Fishlocks, hence my interest in that village also.

Any thoughts on the Milliner family prior to about 1800 greatly appreciated.

Dave

Hi Dave,
I have checked the Phillimore marriages at Cold Aston, 1734-1811 and there is NO record of any Milliner marriages.
I have also checked the Gloucestershire Family History Society GFHS) Gloucestershire Marriages 1800-1837 and also found NO Milliner marriages.
The GFHS Gloucestershire Baptism Index 1800-1837 lists one possible baptism:-
Ann MILLINDER, dau of ? and Ann, a Labourer of Cold Aston, baptised 25th December 1816 at Holy Trinity, Cold Aston.
I shall be back in Glos Archives next Saturday and will let you know of any further data I find.

Hi Dave,
One further thought. Is the parish Cold Aston near Bourton-on-the-Water or Cold Ashton in South Gloucestershire?
