Came across a document on the net for the allocation on numbering for the "Former Dairy Site, Ives Street", which allocated the numbers 27 to 41 to the seperate dwellings that are now there, so it does look like the area I mentioned above. The document was date 1988, so the (extended) dairy lasted until quite recently.
Maybe the local history group (via RBKC) might have more info / pictures.
BTW I looked at my OH's tree and her GG-parents were there from around 1880 to 1893, living at nos 44, 20 then 9 during that time.

That's interesting, I wonder which one was 27 back then.

I expect your ancestors knew mine seeing as they were neighbours !

Thanks for the info.

Not sure if this will work!
I have attached a small extract of the map for the sort of era we are talking about, along with the same area in the 50's showing how the dairy had grown. On this later map I have added a small X to show where no.27 is now.

That's interesting, I haven't found a map yet showing the actual dairy so I'm thrilled to see that !

Just had a look on Google street view and found the current number 27, I suppose there's no way of knowing for certain where 27 was back in 1892 !

Thanks for your time with this.

hi
I lived at 38 Ives Street from 1963 to 1973.
at that time the dairy was still there , it was an Express Dairy then. The main entrance where the carts went in and out was opposite my front door. This was before the original houses were knocked down.
there was a separate office entrance where the street turns south towards Draycott Avenue.
Hope this helps?
david

That's interesting David, what are the chances of that ?!!

I've just tried Googling it under 'Express Dairy' but still can't seem to find any photo's of the place.

Thanks for the info. though, I'll keep trying !
