Have a marriage of William Keith to Mary Taylor on 1827 in Aberdeen. Mary's father was Robert Taylor, does anyone who is tracing these names know who the parents of William Keith are and also the mother of Mary Taylor. Thanks.

I presume the name of Mary's father came from the couple's marriage record?

What other information do you have?

Assuming they stayed in Scotland

- the names and dates of birth of their children should be indexed at https://familysearch.org/search/collection/igi and you can view the original records at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

- you should be able to find them in the 1841 and 1851, and maybe the 1861, at http://www.freecen.org.uk/cgi/search.pl and you can view the original records at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

- if you think they died in Scotland sfter 1855 you should be able to find their death certificates at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and the death certificates should tell you the full names of both sets of parents including their mothers' maiden names.

If you already have any of that, let us know the details so that we can help you without duplicating anything you already have.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Does that mean you have looked for them in the census and failed to find them? Are you descended from one of the children, and if so which one? Did they emigrate somewhere and if so when?

Yes,have looked in census, but could not find them. Had not looked for emigration, but that is most certainly a possibility as William T Keith (son) was in Canada for a number of years. I'm sure in early part of 1850's, but possibility he was there earlier, possibly in early to mid 1840's.
Thanks, i'll try that out.
No, i'm not descendant from him but he would appear to be partners g/g/g/grandfather.

Hi bob,

You mention that William T Keith was in Canada for a number of years.
Where and when did he marry and to whom? Did he come back to Scotland?

I've had a look at the 1841 Census and can't find the family.
The closest match I've came across for William jnr is a 12 year old Agricultural Labourer at a farm in Slains, Aberdeenshire living with a farmer, his family and other farm workers :-\ That's a very long shot.

Can't find any of the other family members. That's not to say there not hiding there somewhere (mistranscribed) just that I haven't found them ;D. But like Forfarian I wonder if they have emigrated or if one or both of William snr and Mary (Taylor) Keith have died by 1841. The last child born (as far as Familysearch records show) is 1833 six years after the marriage.

Looby :)

Yes he was in Upper Canada (Ontario) in 1852. Think he married Helen Lumsden there, but no marriage cert. She went by the name of Ellen Philips(Previous married name). She and her children of which 2 are his, do not turn up again in census' until 1861. Have all the details concerning William T Keith and the numerous things he got up to as well as al his children from both relationships.
His father William Keith is the one i am trying to find details on as well as his mother mary taylor.
In Upper Canada William T is entered as Taylor William K, Innkeeper, Scotland, W.P, 25, M.
When he went there i do not know, who he went with i don't know either but it's a good possibility he went there with parents and possibly siblings.
