I work at the Church of St Thomas the Apostle, in St Thomas, Exeter. Although the historic registers are not kept at the church, we do have good records of the monuments and memorials in the church and churchyard.

Hello

We have quite a few WINDEATTs (unofficial one-name study) who lived at various times in St. Thomas parish.  I'd be very grateful for any additional information you may have.  This Dartmoor surname is, however, still fairly rare which should make looking it up relatively easy (although often plagued with mistranscriptions).  The more usual variants are with one T or a Y instead of an I).  Thank you in anticipation,

Hi all - sorry I've been away from the site for a week or so. I will be able to get to these requests tomorrow.

I will post anything that I find here, if that is OK with everyone. I am so new here, and don't want to upset the protocol, but posting results publicly seems to fit the 'feel' of the site. SandraW - I have checked for Windeatt, Windeat, Wyndeatt and Wyndeat and had no joy I'm afraid.

lesleyhannah - No Pearces, but one Pearse gravestone in the churchyard. The transcription is:
