Hi Cotswolder,

Hi Compo,

You might find this site interesting

http://www.dixon115.freeserve.co.uk/sculcoates.htm

but as Suttontrust has already said there are several people on here who know quite a bit about Hull and surrounding areas so post your names and details

Bee

It would appear that this link is not working. Is it correct ?

It looks like the Sculcoates page has either been removed, or, possibly, merged with other pages on this site.

If you go to
http://www.dixon115.freeserve.co.uk/

you will see:
Quote
It also contains information about the East Riding of Yorkshire(England)
where I, and many of my ancestors, were born and live(d).
My special area of interest is Sculcoates.

enter the site, then click on the Hull/East Riding map for more information:
http://www.dixon115.freeserve.co.uk/eastriding.htm

Hope this helps,
Bob

DEWKES/DUKES LOCKINGTON

im not sure if lockington is also a part of hull or not,but
also looking for descendants of
marriage solemnized at the parish church
in the parish of lockington
november 30th 1841
aaron dewkes of full age of lockington servant in husbandry son of charles dewkes labourer
ellen haram (my 4x great aunt) of full age of lockington daughter of moses haram (my 4x great paternal grandfather)
i know they had at least one son george dewkes
though it must be pointed out that they will most likely be listed in census records as dukes not dewkes
can any of you find them in the census for lockington
i know george dukes/dewkes is in the 1881 census in lockington
as an " ag lab" and living with his parents age 24
also he is "u" unmarried yet there are 2 grandchildren listed as being there at the time so i think perhaps george had a brother
the 2 grand children are
robert dewkes born circa 1869 lockington
herbert dewkes born circa 1880 lockington

faithfully

compo
Lockington is not a part of Hull compo it's in East Yorkshire nearer to Driffield
Regards

Welcome to Rootschat Steve.  To send Compo a personal message, click on the green scroll under his name, a new page will open where you can send him a Personal (private) Message.  Next time he logs on to Rootschat, he will get a message telling him he has a personal message.  If he has opted to receive e-mail reminders, he will receive an e-mail telling him he has a personal message.

Hope that is clear.

You could also click on his name to look at his profile and near the bottom of the page, you'll see a line that states "Send this member a personal message" or something similar.

Lizzie
