I am looking for any possible descendants of Andrew McKenzie who was born in Alva Clackmannanshire Scotland in may 1841 and left for Melbourne in february 1858 aged 16 years.
His father was Andrew McKenzie, mother Christina maiden name McIntyre fathers occupation was a woolen weaver.
I have this information from the family bible along with other information about the family.

Bit of a long shot: I see this death on the Qld BMD index - you can order an image for $AU20
https://www.bdm.qld.gov.au/IndexSearch/querySubmit.m?ReportName=DeathSearch

1904   C629
Andrew MCKENZIE, mother Christina McKenzie

Another index gives the actual date of death as 19 Sep 1904.

I'm not very familiar with Qld records but I believe that the letter C in the reg number means the death was registered in country Qld - i.e. not in Brisbane.

The index doesn't give any more information.  I can't see any other deaths with a mother Christina MCKENZIE.  Of course, if he was in Australia without family or friends from home he may well be one of the many listed with parent names not given.

An even longer shot  ;D

An Andrew McKenzie married an Elizabeth Annie Freer in South Australia in 1869 (Barossa).
http://www.genealogysa.org.au/

They had children

1872 Christina McKenzie at Gilbert in South Australia died 1873 at Gilbert in South Australia
1873 Andrew McKenzie  at Gilbert in South Australia
1875 Donald Seaforth McKenzie at Gilbert in South Australia
1880 John McKenzie at Gilbert in South Australia

There are other rootschatters with better South Australian resources who may be able to help rule this in/out.  (I was just going by children's names)

cheers,

Thanks for that it sounds promising the names apart from John are all names of the immediate family , he had a brother Donald who left for Otago aged 16 who I am also trying to trace.I have a reasonable amount of information about the family from the end of the 18th century up to the present day, other names married into the McKenzies were Shaw, Cameron, McGregor and Chalmers.

the only firm information I have about the Australia connection is in my original post everything else I have is about my direct ancestors that stayed here in Scotland. I am really interested if there were any descendants of Andrew

I can't see him arriving in Victoria in 1858 however if he was an unassisted immigrant he may be listing simply as McKENZIE and no further details.

Do you have the details of his departure including the ship's name.

unfortunately the only thing I have is what is written  in the bible that he left his native land feb.1858 for Melbourne Australia being of an adventurous disposition only 16 years of age. I have not searched any shipping records here in either Scotland or England but I will try that next.
