My name is Christopher Howitt, I am a direct descendant of James Howatt (Howitt) who migrated to Brisbane ( as mentioned in your post). I am his Great - Great Grandson. James married Annie Charleson in Ipswich QLD in 1859. My line of decent comes through John Howitt (eldest son of James), Herbert Charleson Howitt (eldest son of John), Ian Laurence Howitt, my father (3rd son of Herbert), I am Christopher Maxwell Howitt and I have two sons, James Alistair Howitt and Cameron John Howitt. My sons names were chosen as markers to their forefathers (James and John), thus making it easier to future generations to trace individuals and linking the family back to Govan. Much of the family that descends from James still lives in and around the Brisbane area and of course there is a rich family history to tell.
