Do you think it would follow that the probate was recorded in the county/probate district of death?
The 1945 one could be worth a further look - although you say she died in Kent - unless that was a mistake in location - mine definitely died in Hull. Otherwise could be worth a look. IS there an abbreviated record naming exec's etc.
the other - 1942 might be too early, unless its possible to register probate before a death. Sorry it is not an area I am familiar with if that seems silly.
Otherwise if there is an absence of probate how would she have dispersed her worldly goods and the family china etc? (Husband died in 1942)
