Hi Carol,

This could be Mary on the 1881 -

Mary Dimmock   wid 63 b. Burton Wolds, Leicestershire
Harriett Twells   serv 19

RG11 Piece 3139 Folio 65 Page 9, Ticknall, Derbyshire

If correct then John would have died between 1871 and 1881.

Could be a long shot but it's worth looking at this marriage -

John Dimmocks q2 1851, Basford.
Vol 15 Page 720

On the same page is Mary Hubbard

To clarify this marriage it would be advisable to purchase Arthur's birth certificate to ascertain his mother's maiden name, which hopefully is 'Hubbard'  :)

And this is probably John Dimmock's baptism:

John Dimmock - 14/02/1821 - Shenton, Leicestershire - mother Mary Dimmock

So possibly an illegitimate birth.

And if so then Perhaps this is mother Mary's marriage:

Shenton   29-Dec   1823   Banns   Mary   Dymock(sic)   of Wolvey   WAR and Samuel   York OTP

The 1851 and 1861 census' however appear to show that Mary York/Dimmock was born in Shenton abt 1788.  It may therefore be a second marriage for Mary

I'll look a bit more.
