Half trunk of Mrs. M.O.G. Lees
« on: Sunday 05 January 14 06:24 GMT (UK) »
i own a socalled "Half (or Lady) trunk" that belonged to a Mrs. M.O.G. Lees. The initials on the trunk are "O.L" (her husband?). The trunk is made by "The National". I know that a US-company with the simialar name (The national Trunk company) was shorlty in excistence, but that had a different logo. Can anyone place this Mrs. M.O.G. Lees. According to a label she came back in London again. On some NZ-passenger lists i found mentions of a Mrs Lees with servant and a mr. Lees, but i dont know if the surname Lees was/is very common in the UK. She travelled with the steamer Andes and Argentio (?) (and lots of other ships).

ok, thank you all,
is it possible that the trunk first belongend to the previous wife of mr. Lees or did she simply dislike the name Mathilda and called hersef Olivia Lees?

The first wife was called Lillian Hennessey or Eliza Standish (can't tell which without further work) so it doesn't seem to have been the previous wife's trunk.  It could have belonged to Mr Lees sister, mother or anyone with the initials OL
