I realy need help my great great grandparents barny / bernard and grace gallagher Im trying to find out her maiden name can anybody help he was birn in wales in march 1848 and I cant remember her birth but I found a cencus saying her birth place was derbyshire new mills ?

Are you sure about him being born in Wales - the census says Yorkshire?

Thanks Aghadowey.

I cant find any marriage between a Barney/Bernard Gallagher and a Grace. She would have been about 17 when the first child was born. The best thing would be to get one of the children's birth certificates as that will give her maiden name.

I'm having problems though finding children registered where it says on the 1891 census - I wonder, if they weren't married, if they were registered in her name?

That's a possible, but if her age is right in 1871 when she was 19, she would have been very young.
