Con Doherty Druminderry

I wish to correct an error stated by myself above
My GGGF Con Doherty was not known at "The Kid"
Phil Doherty who was married to his daughter Ellen was known as "The Kid"
I do not have exact dates for any of the above.
Quinn (Donegal); McLaughlin, Doherty (Big Hill, Corney, Dubh, Lenan, Meenkeragh, Mor, Ownes, Roe, Druminderry.), Barr, Granny  (Buncrana);  Bonar (Convoy); McGlynn (Burnfoot); McFadden (St Johnston); Hamilton (Raphoe); Houston (Meenbane, Donegal); Eames (Kinlough, Leitrim); Murray and Henry (Westport, Mayo); Hasson (Derry); Eames (Leitrim); Farrell (Lanesboro) Scally (Gallagh, Roscommon); Casserly (Garranstown, Roscommon): Brennan and Hyland (Rathcline, Longford); Hopkins (Cashel, Longford

Ellen Granny     Sarida     Strarudda

Ellen Granny my Great Great Grandmother was born around 1820.
In 1901 she was living with her daughter Ellen Doherty and her husband Phil Doherty (The Kid) in Drumaderry. She had died by the time of the 1911 Census.
I was always told that she was from Sarida.
Two weeks ago on a visit to Keeloges I stated that there was no such townland as Sarida but that the area was in the townland of Foffanagh. This provoked a discussion I produced the Ordnance Survey (org. 1834) of the Buncrana area and Sarida was poined out to be in the place described as Strarudda. There would be very few people in Buncrana that would be aware of such a spelling.
I subsequently came across a reference to Sarida being a "Sub Townland" of Foffanagh, I do not recall this term before. The other subtownlands being: Foffanagh; Kinnagoe Hill; and The Rock.

My great grandmother's family came from Foffenagh aka the Rock and I figured out that Sarida was a subtownland through BMD records I had found.  It made sense when I looked at the whole picture and the connections.

There is site that's very helpful in determining subtownlands. Here is the link for Foffenagh.

A very belated welcome to RootsChat  :)

My grandfather was Michael Bradley, son of William Bradley and Unity/Winifred Gallagher. Unity was from Glenvar. I haven't been able to get back beyond William's father John Bradley (born 1809) and don't have any of his siblings or his mother.

These are presumably your Bradleys in the 1901 Irish census.

Here's the property known as Strarudda in the townland of Foffanagh and east of Druminderry Upper. It's the Historic Map 6 inch B&W (1837-1842) on GeoHive.

I'm hoping you're still following this thread Annie. I'm very interested to see how you've been getting on with compiling the Clonglash family tree. My family are Bradley's from Clonglash. My grandfather was Michael Bradley, son of William Bradley and Unity/Winifred Gallagher. Unity was from Glenvar. I haven't been able to get back beyond William's father John Bradley (born 1809) and don't have any of his siblings or his mother.
My second cousin P. Murphy posted in this thread a while back (his granny was my great aunt Mary Ann Bradley). My mother's sister Anna Bradley married Willie Doherty (Dubh).
I have a public tree on ancestry.com

This all I know about the family in House 10 in 1901. I didn't finish my research. Sorry. This is copied from a word document.

Would love help to piece together the remaining members of my Porter family!

Sarah Porter (abt. 1841-1920) married James Quigley (1841-1916) in Inishowen in 1868. Sarah was living in Keeloges at the time of her marriage and James in Tullydish.
The Tullydish letter of 1879, written by Sarah (Porter) Quigley, refers to her brothers Samuel (1825), Henry (1831), and written to my 2nd. great-grandfather John William (abt. 1841-1919). She tells of the old Nancy Williamson of the Bankhead is dead and buried.
All three brothers emigrated to New Brunswick, Canada from Buncrana.
Sarah's parents are Robert & Anne (Williamson) Porter, I have not seen a record to confirm their mother's maiden name.

Would love to know of any additional siblings, and the birth place of their parents.
