FIND A GRAVE - John Francis Hazel - 4 April 1872 - 5 July 1922

Burial: Newington Cemetery  Newington Rockingham County New Hampshire.

John was the son of Richard Hazel from Bantry Bay, County Cork, Ireland. He married Gertrude Plympton Evans Fletcher. They had 2 children. Richard Lane, dob october 25, 1908 and Anna Margaret, dob november 15, 1909. "surely goodness and mercy has followed me all the days of my life: and i shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever". psalms 23:6

Father Richard Hazel.  Died 5 th July 1922 aged 50 years 3 months and 1 day. Asst Foreman.   


Possibility for Lizzie/Eliza in 1910 Waterbury Ward 1, New Haven, Connecticut. (worth further investigation)

Elizabeth Short  29 Born Conn. Parents Ireland. Married 1 for 9 years. Had 2 children and 2 survive.
Mary Short  2 years and 6 months.

What Shelly gave you were City Directory entries showing Jennie and Eliza in Waterbury.

I found someone with Elizabeth and John Short on ancestry so I messaged them, hopefully I've found one of the children at least. They all seem very hard to find, more so than others

Pleased we have made 1 connection confirmed by the obituary of son Robert.  :'(
There is an obituary for Robert Shortt son of John and Eliza. Robert died 11 January 2012 and the obituary date was 14 Jan 2013 -
Waterbury, Connecticut,

NAUGATUCK Mr. Robert Francis Shortt, age 89, of Naugatuck, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Saint Mary's Hospital - Mr. Shortt was born in Waterbury on Sept. 13, 1923, a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Hazel) Shortt - etc etc.................

Obit for the daughter Mildred Brennan also confirms the "Hazel" connection.

Mrs Mildred I short Brennan - 77 years of Sunnybridge Road widow of Harold Brennan.
Mrs Brennan was born in Waterbury November 29th 1909 daughter of thr late John W Shortt and Elizabeth (Hazel) Shortt etc etc..................

Could I ask for help on another name if you don't mind? Daniel Goggin, he is on the same census I gave you. I think I might have found his neutralization record (maybe). Trying to find family for him also.

The 1882 Waterbury Directory gives Daniel Goggins rem to Boston.

Yeah the neutralization record I found for him says he's in Somerville, Mass. I presume on the census I sent you that May Goggin is his wife but no sign of children at that time.
