Regarding the additional marriage to Josephine Valdez, it appears that she had a son Joseph with an Arthur Stone, so may well be your guy.

I found an article from the San Antonio Light from February 6, 1929 that indicates the state of Texas brought a proceeding against A.G. Stone for child abandonment.  A bond of $200 was ordered forfeited for failure to appear.

There is a death notice for Arthur which doesn't give much more info than is on the death certificate.  It says religious services were being held at Iglesia Baptista Church.
