Hello Radcliff,

Hello from Australia!
Thank you for replying, family tree can be so confusing, but I do love this detective searching for my family tree history.
The name was Thomas Costello, not John, my apologies.
The only information I have that Thomas Costello married Mary Davey.
I think Mary Davey’s parents are William Francis Davey and Mary Davey.
(I don’t know Mary Davey's mother's maiden name)
I don’t know how many children Thomas Costello and Mary Davey had.
The only information I have regarding children is they had a son John Costello.
Thomas Costello and his wife Mary Davey and also Thomas Costello’s parents are buried in the church ground in Tubercurry Co Sligo Ireland. I don’t know Thomas Costello’s parents names.
Thomas Costello and his father were carpenters.
Some of the buildings they built are still there in Tubercurry Co Sligo Ireland.
Their son John Costello worked for a year in England for a year to save money for his fare to migrate to Australia in 1885.
So the information I need is Thomas Costello and his parent’s history and Mary Davey and her parent’s history.
Thomas Costello is my mother’s father’s great grandfather.

Thanking you.

Kind Regards

Janice Kemp

We aren't allowed to post personal details such as email addresses so you'll either need to click 'modify' button and remove yours or click 'report to moderator' to ask for it to be removed (after 24 hours you cannot edit posts).

Unfortunately, the only date you've given us in when John went to Australia which really isn't that useful to locate the family in Irish records.

John Costello and Mary Davey were married on 29 January 1859 in Kilshalvey , Kilturra RC Church.
I have copy of their marriage cert. Witness were Pat Davey and Mary Costello. They had 9 children: Catherine, Hugh, Michael,Mary, Eleanor, Martin, Patrick, John and Thomas. I am descended from John Costello who emigrated to Australia. He went to Kalgorle Goldfields, made a lot of money , then went to Palmer river goldfield, lost a lot of money and finally settled in Kilcoy north west of Brisbane and had a small farm there of 160 acres,  I have not found any information of John C and Mary Davey parents.   From Gregory. dated 22 July 2015

Hi Janice,

This just caught my eye. A William Francis Davey (1800-1857) is my 3x great-grandfather. His wife was Mary McNulty (1805-1939). they had a daughter Mary in 1827. I have them living in Curry, Sligo, and Doocastle, Mayo. This daughter Mary, however, married Timothy McCluskey in St. Lawrence County, New York. She was my 2x great-grandmother. I'd love to connect and compare notes. Naming was weird and maybe there were two WF Daveys.
Sligo: Davey (also Mayo), McCluskey, McNulty
Wexford and Staffordshire: Hayes, McClean
Galway and Staffordshire: Scott
Coventry: Wells, Collins, Palmer, Moody, Beck, Mickelwright, Husbands
Ireland: McNulty (Sligo), Kealy, Murphy (Carlow) Connolly, Gillen, Powell, Ryan, Moore, Martin
Davis from I don't know where originally
Stahl, Russia to England to USA

JaniceMary hasn't been online since 2014 and didn't respond to all the information gtc62 posted in 2015 so you might not get a reply.
