Looking for a lady
« on: Friday 06 December 13 18:00 GMT (UK) »
Look up please for a Miss P.A. Ashley who lived in Durban arrived from England 1960's? and passed away mid to late 1980's. I have had no joy in tracking this lady and would dearly love to resolve this.

Many thanks

She may have been born in the London area [UK] perhaps south London? When was she born? not really sure but my guess is somewhere in the region of 1914 to 1925? I think here Christian names are Pearl Alaxandra. Was she married I am not sure although I understand she had family in the Durban Area of South Africa.

Hope this helps

There is no birth matching the profile given.  The only match to her name and middle initial is in 1939 and that lady married in 1963.  Neither event was in London/Middlesex

You seem very uncertain of the info about her so it may help if you told us what your interest is in her and where you got the info from that she was born in England and arrived in SA in the 1960's

http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm300dl  (and choose to search RSA)
 - There is a woman by that name who was the wife Rudolf Marthinus Muller (died 1936), and then appears to have remarried to a Mr Du Toit and divorced in 1943.  Her middle name is spelt either Alexander or Alexandra.

Perhaps she then went back to using Ashley.  She may not have been born in England, but perhaps did live there sometime post-WWII up to the 1960s, when she returned to SA.  You might be able to find her arriving back into the UK on the incoming passenger lists (under Muller/Du Toit/Ashley?)

 - someone else was looking for her - gives an exact date of death.

 - and another.

this lady was my grandmother .... I would be glad to answer any questions you have about her.  There is quite a story to it.  I am researching the family now and that is how I cam across your queery.    Sally - Daughter of Violet Victoria (maiden name Muller) daughter of Pearl Ashley.   I live in the UK now but Nan finally returned to SA  later in life and as you say died in the late 80's.

PEARL ALEXANDRA ASHLEY
Date of Birth: 1915-03-29
She lived in Durban, but cannot find any family links.

According to her identity number, she became a South African national.

Hope this helps.
