O'Kane family Formil, Glenullin

Hi, my granny was Jeannie O'Kane b1914 d2000, the youngest child of Daniel (the king) O'Kane of Formil and Martha/Mattie Doherty who died shortly after her birth. There were 10 other siblings. Jeannie was adopted by another family (Mullan) so we know almost nothing about her O'Kane family and roots. Does anyone know anything about their history?

Hi,
   It is common for ages to be incorrect. Daniel and Martha were married in 1899 in Dungiven Roman Catholic Church.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat. Aghadowey alerted me to your post.

 Daniel the King of Formil was the only child of Patrick O'Kane and Ellen Lagan. Patrick (Dunany) O'Kane was the brother of Elizabeth O'Kane,my great grandmother. Their father was Daniel O'Kane.

Daniel was born on 10/09/1885  and was almost 14 when he married Ellen who was 16. I was told it was an arranged marriage, to do with land.

Elizabeth O'Kane was married to Jeremiah O'Mullan. Their daughter Margaret was my grandmother. Her sister Bridget was married to James Mullan and I think it was some of these Mullan who adopted Jeannie??

Hi Mary, thanks very much for your message. I would really like to find out about the Mullans who brought my granny up. I'm certain that they were a Presbyterian family though - I think she told me when I was a child that her adoptive father was a minister. I think that they were an older couple who didn't have any children of their own but I might be wrong on that.
