angel not sure if you live close enough to Blean to make a visit. My family are from Long Row. I am related to the King's  Harrison's and Davies's. I visited Long Row last year and in 2010 when my father died. I found the folks in Long Row very helpful in piecing together some of my fading memories and filled a few gaps in my knowledge. I spoke with a lady who was in her 90's (lived there all her life) and her son. My dad Idris was born at 5 long Row in 1924.

Hi angel, alas I was not born in Blaen. Spent loads of time there as a kid. My home is in mid Wales. Your uncle and my dad would have played together for sure. My fathers father (and family) was from Meardy. He was George Robert Davies born around 1903. His sisters were Sarah and Gwen. Gwen had a some named Ronald. I don't recall any men at the houses, I think some had been killed in the pit.  Originally, the Davies' moved from Newtown, mid Wales in the mid/late 1800's looking for work. My great grandfather was  Charles Henry Davies The family were known as 'Tinker' and still known today when I mentioned this to someone in Blaen.

The Long row old folks names I recall are, my grandmother Martha Emma Harrison (Married George Davies), Uncle Warren, I am sure could have been a Harrison. Lived opposite 4 or 5 Long Row . Rosie she would have been a Harrison (later King) then there was Aunt Lal, I think she was at 3 or 4 Long row, I think she had a son called Jenkin. There was also another Idris Davies in Long Row, I am not sure if he lived at 3 or 4 Long Row.... Another family I am related to are the Huntley family. Not sure if they originated in Blaen or Meardy.
My Brother picked up a lot of historical stuff when dad died. I will contact him this week to see if he can shed any light on your uncle. Your uncle would have known all the folks I have mentioned above.

Hi angel

After a long while I have managed to speak with my brother. He doesn't recall any mention of your cousin. However, I have told him about the site. He also mentioned a picture taken in Long Row just after the start of the last century (lots of folks in the street, heaps of coal and a horse and cart in the background). Outside number 11 Long row is a babe in arms. We have been told that this is our grandmother, Martha Emma Harrison. I do wonder if she is on some of the school photos of groups of children from Bleanllechau school.

Hi Angel58,

I’m currently trying to help a lady track down a friend from her childhood in Llandudno and I was wondering whether you might be able to help me.

The person we're looking for is called Gillian and we believe her father may have been called Douglas Thomas. We don’t have many facts apart from the fact that the Gillian would have been in her late teens or early twenties in the 1960s and that her parents used to run a grocery in Penrhyn Bay,  (in the late 1950s/1960s and perhaps into the 1970s).

I was just wondering whether you might have any information which may link your cousin Douglas Thomas to the Llandudno area and whether he might eventually have moved North out of Blaenllechau. Absolutely any info or clues would be much appreciated!

Many thanks,

Selina
