Woollen mills Huddersfield area
« on: Wednesday 27 November 13 23:00 GMT (UK) »
Just wondering if there are any mills left that one could go visit?  I know the one my ancestors likely worked in has been demolished but would be interested in learning more when I next visit.
Any suggestions gratefully received, local history museums that kind of thing.  I have been to the Tolson Museum.
Thank you  :)

Hi

You could try the Colne Valley museum but I don't think it is what you are looking for .
I think there is a mill museum in Lancashire but sadly nothing in the Huddersfield area that I can think of.

Hi
The Industrial museum at Eccleshill Bradford is not too far away and has all the equipment and machinery that was used in a typical woollen mill. It is even located in a textile mill complex.

Saddleworth Museum in the Yorkshire village of Uppermill about 8 minutes by car from Marsden.  The Lancashire one suggested could be Helmshore (Cotton).
