Kew Look Up request
« on: Sunday 24 November 13 10:00 GMT (UK) »
Was wondering if anyone is planning a trip to the National Archives in the near future and is willing to look up a war diary for me - I know it's cheeky but thought it was worth a shot.

Am looking for the 41st Siege Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery, which apparently has not been digitized yet
The reference is WO95/470 and it covers from arrival at war on 1.7.1915 through to 31.1.1918.

However my great uncle - gunner Jonah WESTON (service number 33030) - arrived in France on 9/12/15 and died on 10/6/17 - he is buried with 4 other members of the same gun crew so imagine a direct hit

The ones he is buried with are Samuel CRONE, G PENNIE, J ROYLE, Harry WEBB

This is one of the war diaries that has been digitised - but is not yet available online.

Hopefully they will appear before long.

Hi iolaus,

Unfortunately WO95/470 isn't one of the diaries having been digitised, they have only digitised part of the collection that focuses on the Western Front, starting at piece WO95/1096.

I will have a look for WO95/470 next week for you, if thats ok?

PM me your email address.  :)

:(  I stand corrected I had thought they were digitising all the Western Front diaries.
