John Mayer, died 1881, Bendigo
« on: Tuesday 19 November 13 23:09 GMT (UK) »
Wondering if anyone is able to locate either the death registration number for a certificate or the gravesite / burial location of John Mayer.  He died at the Bendigo District Hospital on 3 January 1881.  He was born in Scotland and his wife was Margaret who made a claim (in Scotland) on his estate (in Australia) in December 1881.  An article has been provided showing that his possessions were sold by auction in September 1881.

He died at the Bendigo District Hospital on 3 January 1881.

I guess you have sourced those details from the many online trees which claim he was born c1833 Scotland.

A copy of the parish record for his marriage shows his parents to be John MAYER and Ann McCULLOCH.

I did read a number of years ago that there were missing bdm's that didn't reach the Victorian Registry so perhaps your John's is one of those.

Not sure where the person I am searching this information for got the information from - was just advised those were the details.  Will ask and seek more information from them if possible (they are in the UK).

There are online trees with this info...perhaps that is where the information was sourced and probably copied from tree to tree.

I suggest you contact one of the Bendigo groups for help.  Research involves fees.  Read their websites for further info.
