Catherine Ryle, b 1900
« on: Tuesday 19 November 13 19:49 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to help somebody with this lady, who was the mother of Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien - better known as Dusty Springfield!

Apparently she left Ireland at the age of 16 or 18 to come to London to work in a bank?

Does anyone have any resources to know what she was up to between arriving in London, and her marriage in 1931 to Gerard Anthony O'Brien?

Hello,
Just a suggestion for looking for Catherine Ryle from Ireland or any others from back then - there were two main pockets of Ryles - Dublin and Ardfert, near Tralee, Co. Kerry. I would think the Ardfert one very likely.

I see Wiki has Catherine's family as "journalists".

This makes "Kathleen" here quite likely? (Although 1901 is eluding me)

Some searches for "Maurice Patrick Ryle" do turn up references to him being the grandfather of Dusty Springfield.

Using the link shown on an earlier thread will lead you to Kathleen Ryle.  Maurice Patrick was my great grandfather and I can confirm Dusty Springfield was a 1st cousin of my father Maurice Jude - his father was Maurice John known as JackRyle.
