Hi Star_boy123  :)

Just to give some background....I am sure you have this already for sure! But it will help people trying to connect or add further info. This is Clifford in 1901:

John B Mace 37, xxx labourer, b. Board ship bound for India
Elizabeth Mace 40 b. Birstall, Yorkshire...Barker for maiden name?
Herbert Mace 11 b. Leeds
Clifford Mace 3 b. Leeds
RG13/4209/21/7

A likely entry for father John, with his family, in 1881 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XQFH-YTM  And at Aldershot for 1871 - ref RG10/818/129/10. Regiment reference given as 33rd Regiment of Foot. Wife/mother showing here as Catherine (not Charlotte) b. Fermoy Ireland c. 1846.

Thought this might connect for John and Catherine's marriage https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FGZ7-HM3

Thought this birth might also be relevant:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FGH5-F8J

Would guess, because you mention it, that you may have seen his WW1 service papers? 27 pages available to view for the record with the Bn West Yorkshire Regt. as main reference.

Was Clifford a postman in later years? www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/33993/pages/7206/page.pdf

I presume you have seen his military record on Ancestry ?

He served with the 3rd Bn West Yorks in England but was discharged as physically unfit for service in 1915. Reason seems to be myopia. The 3rd Bn were at Whitley Bay as part of the Tyne Garrison.

The records though do contain some good personal information.
