Hi Doreen,,
This may be your man. In the Dorchester transcripts from the Oxford FHS there are these details;
Baptism;
17-11-1839 George Davis s/o William & Ann, Labr.
Marriage;
6-10-1834 William Davis (x)
Ann Edmunds (x)
Wits; Wm. Bradbury, Elizabeth Davis, Wm.Cobb, Clerk
Burials;
6-7-1848 Ann Davis aged 31, Dorchester.
19-1-1883 William Davis aged 71 Dorchester.
Ann's burial ties in with the 1841 census JJ listed for you with William shown as a wid.
Assuming these are the correct people, then there is this baptism;
28-7-1811 William Davis s/o John & Mary
also;
4-2-1810 Anne Edwards d/o William & Mary
I only list this baptism because I only found one (Henrietta 1814) "Edmonds/Edmunds" being baptised in Dorchester and as I have recently had a similar issue in that Edwards has been mis-read for Edmonds and vice-versa.
Hope this helps.
I might be able to find more if you wish.
Alan
