Hi Nanny with Rosie,

With the two eldest children being born in Bethnal Green there is this marriage on Freebmd:

Lane, John to Barker, Ann; June Qtr 1853; Bethnal Green; Volume 1C Page 645

This might be their marriage.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

David

Thank you all for responding so quickly, it has moved my research forward (or should I say backwards) after spending a long time puzzling how to proceed.  I would guess there were more children to the marriage as John at 15 means Ann would have been 30.

You pre-empted my next question about their marriage.   Thank you for correcting the birth details for Harriet, that does look the more likely.

Interesting fact that they lived in Manor Street in 1871 - that is where George Henocq was living when he married Harriet so maybe he was the father after all!!
