Robert Morrison
« on: Tuesday 12 November 13 19:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to trace any information on my grandfather Robert Morrison who served in the first world war with the Scottish Riffles  I have his medals with his army number.  I have searched some other sites but have came up with nothing. He was in bellahouston hospital where he died in march 1925.

thanks

Winniep :)

Winnie
can you post details that are on the medal rims?
only about 30% of service records survive the blitz of ww2

thanks for the information I know that he was in france but did not know when he was sent there. he ended up in bellahouston hospital in 1925 apparently he had mustard gas poisoning and complecations. I will have to keep looking to find out when he came back from the war and what was the extent of his injuries.  Thanks for this information.

He should have 3 medals a 1915 star, British War and Victory Medals.
He wasn't pensioned out he was demobbed end of war.

There should be a war diary available from National Archives maybe ewven downloadable it wont name him but will let you know where his battalion served in France and Belgium
