Hi Tara,
I know that Louisa Mildred married William Crook 1897 . . . Golden Wedding Salford 1947 . . . .but don't know where they married or precise date.
Raised by her Grandmother, I have an account from Louisa's Grandaughter of the lives of William and Louisa when they lived in Cork and there was a certain amount of travelling round singing for their supper. I cannot find them in any 1901 census. But have the 1911. The dates I have given come from Louisa's Grandaughter.
Louisa told her Grandaughter the story of the Bob Lady and of her father being killed in a steamroller accident! And that she had a sister Catherine, but no names for her parents. Also the connection with the Cusack family.
My feeling is that William was in the Navy, there is a suggestion that he was attached to HM Victory Barracks Portsmouth as a Stoker/ERA. But no confirmation.
Their first child was born Salford Lancs 1898 the other children in Cork. So possibly if William was stationed Portsmouth Louisa lived with the Crook family in Salford for the birth of her baby. . . . But returned to Cork for the birth of their second child abt 1902. Possibly the naval connection ended at this point. They remained in Cork till about 1920.
Finding Louisa and William's marriage cert and something about Louisa's parents would mean so much.
Warm Regards. Q
