Baldwins Travel Tunbridge Wells

 Im looking for any information about a Thomas Botting who purchased Baldwins Travel Agency on Grosvenor Road Tunbridge Wells in 1952 from the Baldwin family ( of the Grosvenor Printing Works Co who went into the travel agency business),Mr Botting sold the travel business to the current owners (the Marks family) in 1991.

I have looked on Ancestry Uk and the only one I found WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT BE HIM is a listing for a Thomas William Botting born March 8,1915 who died age 81 in Tunbridge Wells in December qtr of 1996. I looked on Deceasedonline for a burial record but could not find one. I did a general search on Google for any Thomas or Tom Botting connected to Tunbridge Wells and didn't see anything except for the following;

Thomas Botting born March; company director; address of Tunbridge Wells South East; company name " Travel and Holidays Limited" at 5-6 The Courtyard  East Park Crawley,West Sussex. Company incorporated May 2,1956; liquidated 1996. Private limited company. Again this may have nothing to do with the chap I am looking for but that's all I could find.

Well, the info you have found certainly ties up with what you knowdoesnt it. Travel company in Tonbridge Wells, ceased in 1996, and name Thomas Botting.
Would be quite a co-incidence for there to be 2 such people.

Would be worth looking to see if he left a Will in 1996 (too late for online records, but indexes can be viewed in person in Holborn, or a search done for you) - that may well mention his business interests and confirm (or otherwise) that you are on the right track.

Other than the TB that you have quoted ,the only other feasible candidate that died in Kent post the sale date in 1991 is :-

Are you suggesting that Tom Botting died in 1996?

I thought YOU suggested it in your first post!

And it was in the record You quoted that it said the business ceased in 1996!

I was just drawing these points together, maybe he still had some shares in it, or some business interest even after it was sold , I have no idea, but just suggested that if he left a Will it would probably clarify this for you. Or alternatively, rule that Thomas Botting (ie the 1996 death) out completely.

I realise this is a very old chat, but if any further information has been found on the Baldwins Travel Agency, which was formerly the Grosvenor Printing Works set up by Alfred Kennard Baldwin in 1876 it would be great to hear. My main interest is the printing works company itself, and any knowledge or records that may be obtained from it.
