Durham prison records around 1901
« on: Thursday 31 October 13 08:58 GMT (UK) »
In the 1901 census it shows my GG Grandad  Henry Burns and my GGG grandad Owen burns in prison. I have looked at ancestry and they do not have records from this time, i have also contacted Durham prison and Durham records office and they too have no records. Does anyone  have any idea where i could search next. I would really appreciate any help  Thanks penny :)

There could be a report in the local paper.

I did try the local newspapers and i found nothing for owen burns but i did find a shooting incident for Henry burns, it works out the correct age but i think it is too far from there home. I will have a second look this weekend though, thank you for you reply

Well where did these people live as I have looked on the Newspapers online and they is plenty of records on there for Owen Burns the last one was in 1898 for him and he had had 19 convicions up to then and for that one he was sent to prision for 3 months.

This was in Teesside area.
Lowson, Hodgson, Dent, Townson, Simpson, Brown, Bruce, and many more.
