I wonder can anyone help. I am looking for info on fatal car accident that happened probably in 1962 or 1963 in New York maybe In Bronx. James Mangan died on way to hospital, he would have been in his early 60's. That is the only info I have. Thanks!

Thanks I had seen that record and ruled it out. What I was hoping to find was a newspaper report as I can't find anything online and I imagined newspapers would have reported a fatal car accident.

Hi
Try this site for New York Newspapers....
http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton_New_form.html

I must admit I find it hard to search for stuff using this site, but you might do better.

Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of New York City newspapers from that time frame online.  The New York Times has its archives online, but I didn't see anything there that fit him and they don't typically report on accidents unless the victim or circumstance was notable.

If nothing else pans out, you could try ordering his death certificate.  There is more information about doing that here - http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/services/vr.shtml

Thanks for that info re reporting of incidents. I tried ordering cert but I dint have actual date so not sure if they will be able to help. I know  the address I think he lived at and have letter written in months after death but not the actual death. Have emailed dept so will see if I get a response.
