Alexander Sinclair who wed Caroline Christmas

Hello,
I'm looking for the roots of Alexander Sinclair, a tailor who lived at Pump Street and Church Square, Rye, Sussex. He was born in Scotland circa 1804 and had six children, whom I can trace, by Caroline Christmas who was born in 1806 in Rye. They were married in 1827.
I think he was the third son of Alexander Sinclair and Agnes Davidson of Leslie, Fife. Can anyone confirm this?   He seems to have disappeared off the face of Scotland. As far as I can tell, no marriage, death or census records show him there.

Do you have him in the 1861 census with his wife and family at Rye Essex

Have you seen this in the Gazette re the dissolution of a partnership in Rye in 1827.

Yes, Rosie, I have him on the 1861 census. He was on the 1841 at Pump Street, 1861 at 32 Church Square and 1871 at 31 Church Square.

The Gazette article is very interesting, Shaun. It's definitely the Alexander I'm looking for. His son, another Alexander John Sinclair, wasn't born until 1828 and became a millwright. The partnership appears to have been dissolved two weeks or so before Alexander's marriage to Caroline. It certainly indicates that he was resident in Rye for quite some time before that.

I'm really grateful for the interest shown in this one.

I know that some of the clan departed for Canada, but I don't think that this Alexr S did. The one I'm looking for was born in Leslie, Fife. I'm afraid Islay is on the other side of Scotland.

However, thank you for the info on the deaths of Caroline and Alexander at Rye. I suspected that they died round about these dates because they don't show up on the 1881 census.
I wish that the English BMDs were as available as some other countries are.
