John Lewis Johnson - Derbyshire

It's believed that John Lewis Johnson was born 1885 in Derbyshire, died
in the same are around 1949/50.

John married Eliza (maiden name unknown) prior to 1912.
They had one known son Ernest Lewis Johnson born 1915 in Derby.

any help in regards to the Johnson family of Derby - would be appreciated

We were always lead to believe that her name was 'Eliza'  as it
appeared on the sons death cert.   The Informant must not have known of
the mother's name.

Just having a quick look at freebmd, there is only 1 John Lewis Johnson around the birth year you quoted and that is q/e Jun 1884 Newcastle under Lyme Staffordshire reg. district vol 6b page 83.

John may have been married before he married Marion Lees

In 1901 census there is a John L Johnson aged 24 married to Esther Johnson aged 23
also together in 1911 and John is named John Lewis Johnson and gives his birthplace as Sawley
There is a death of a Esther Johnson in 1911 aged 33

I had been looking at that one and thought it possible Carol, the only thing that threw me was the Nottingham reg dist death for Esther.  

I think that this could have been his birth with first names wrong way round, I have also seen a christening for him.
