Violet Gertrude CRABTREE

Once more my Crabtree family are all over the place. Trying to find the marriage (to whom) of Violet Gertrude Crabtree daughter of George Crabtree and Susan Elizabeth Smith Crabtree; baptised St Mary Bishophill Senior, York, England however she married in Sculcoates - born 1879 bapt 1880 - did she marry Mr Arthur Putnam or Mr George Allan Sharpe in 1901 please.  Have most of her siblings (of which there is a cast of hundreds) but this young lady eludes me. Her sister Edith May married a Charles Moxon in Leeds 1901. Any help with these ladies would be happily received and thank you.

Violet married Arthur Putman at Sculcoates Register Offices or Registrar Attended (if a non-conformist ceremony).

The Yorkshire BMD site http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk is really useful for marriages as it puts couples together and often gives the exact venue (but not in this case sadly).

In case you didn't already have the venue Edith and Charles married at St Peter, Leeds.

Here we go again - her father named as Tom in the marriage - who was Tom one wonders unless a brother? Her father was George born in Colne Lancs 1834 - and what in the world is a Hackle pin maker? Is it something to do with equines?  Never heard of it - prior to that George was a travelling salesman. This family of mine is so weird. No one seemed to stick to any job, or any wife for that matter!!!!! Thank you Pinetree.

My dictionary has hackle as
 (a) a comb for splitting and combing out the fibres of flax or hemp
 (which would fit the importance of the linen industry in N Ireland)
 (b) long shining feathers on the neck of the domestic cock, peacock,
 pigeon, etc
 (c) Angling - an artifical fly dressed with a hackle feather.

   It's  also  referred to  as the bunch of feathers
 that fitted behind the Fusiliers cap badge.

The  Edith MARY Crabtree marrying Charles Moxon was born in Leeds 14 May 1879.  She is with her parents, Thomas and Selina in Leeds in 1881 and 1891.  Fathers occupation Hackle and Fillpin Maker.  She is with her mother Selina in 1901 in Leeds.  She doesn't appear to be the sister of Violet Gertrude Crabtree.

Digging a little further on....  I don't think Edith May married.  You need to access the 1911 Census.  I think this is her death
