Does anyone know anything of the JC Rose (and does CF = chaplain, att = attached?) of the 2/4 Somerset Light Infantry, signatory to the attached letter which was written to my grandmother, probably from France/Belgium?
Douglas, Tait, Chalmers, Runciman, Jack. Hawick, Jedburgh, Roxburgshire, Berwickshire, East Lothian.

CF = Chaplain to the Forces: it all fits.
You'd be able to follow him up via
Crockfords Clerical Directory
as well as via the military.
Simons Barrett Jaffray Waugh Langdale Heugh Meade Garnsey Evans Vazie Mountcure Glascodine Parish Peard Smart Dobbie Sinclair....

Yes, that's the Chaplain Rose -
many thanks
to "gb" and GS - I'll follow up those leads. His note to my grandmother was sent almost 3 weeks before the official Army notification (reporting that husband was in hospital in Boulogne), so well done JC Rose. If there is anyone out there with connections.......let me know.
