My mum used to love telling people when we were out with my daughter and her daughter - there are 4 generations here.  Have several photos of mum, me, daughter and grandaughters.
Mum is sadly no longer around, but I now have a great grandson - so must get a photo taken of the latest 4 generations.

I have a pic of me as a baby being held by my great grandmother, with my mother and grandmother standing next to us. Great gran died when I was 2 years old so I can't remember her, hence the photo is very precious.

I also have a pic of my mother, my sister and I, my sister's son and his baby daughter.

We have a 5 (although it's only 4 in my direct family - all female)
My nan (gr, gr grandmother), my aunt (gr, gr grandmother), my cousin (grandmother), her daughter (mother) and her son (child)

Also grew up as a 4 generation as was 12 when my great grandfather died

Never saw 4 generations as being that unusual tbh I suppose it's one of the benefits of growing up in a family who have children in their early 20s

I think you are lucky to have an older photo of 5 generations...4 is the norm I think as people didn't live as long as they do today...I have seen 6 generations in the local paper but you often find that in these instances the ladies were more often quite young when they became Mothers.
