Its as I suspected as a submission from a LDS member doing his/her family tree of 6 generation back.

Sometimes they are right other times very iffy!

Myself I only use actual records info from the time Ie:- in this case 1703-1725 etc from PR's, BT's, bond allegations marriage intent records, Wills/probate, overseers records, parish chest and others etc. Workhouses sometimes had birth & burial/death records aswell

Hope it helps

Dobby  :)

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Thank you so much for all your work. It was most interesting. I will have to see if I can discover anything before his marriage on 8 September 1725 recorded in the Ripley Parish Records. Any suggestions of the best place to look would be most helpful - unfortunately I live too far away from Yorkshire to actually visit the North Yorkshire archives. Where did you find the information about the marriage of Thomas Dixon and Anne Terry in 1699? It might be worthwhile to see if I can establish a connection.

Unfortunately it looks like a false trail. Thomas Dixson who was christened on 27 April 1705 at Kirby Hill also appears as Thomas Dixon (father William Dixon) who was buried on 27 April 1705 at Kirby Hill (IGI Batch I04240-3 film 1849349) - so it looks like a still birth.
