Thanks again, David.  All that is registered is the crest - no coat of arms. My aim here is to try and clarify how my family came to possess items incorporating the crest - I'm fairly sure  I  have worked it out,  but descendants of these Allens may be able to help.

From O'Byrne's Naval Biography : Captain John James Allen (b. 15 May 1806) eldest son of John Lee Allen Esq of Errol Park, and brother of Captain Henry Murray Edward Allen. Married 28 Aug 1832 Lady Henrietta Dundas Duncan, eldest daughter of the Earl of Camperdown, grandaughter of the celebrated Admiral Lord Duncan, and sister of Vicount Duncan MP for Bath. They had two sons and two daughters.

Captain HME Allen married Mary Eversley 30 Dec 1841, daughter of the late John Eversley Esq.

Grateful thanks, Martin.
I wasn't aware of the biography - it looks like a great resource.
Interestingly my information shows John James Allen with only one son, so I will have to follow that up.
