Did anyone else (apart FROM ME & MY SIBLINGS) have to eat 'Sheeps Head Soup?

We also had the Tongue cooked, sliced and put in 'Butties'.

My poor Mum, fed us (6 kids) as best as she could.

We all loved her to bits.

Barbara348,

Yes me too, and that would have been well into the 1960s.  I can remember being ill off school - stress, I desperately wanted to study Biology but threw up every time I had to do dissections.  Feeling better, I went down to the kitchen looking for what there was to eat, and took a peak in the pan on the cooker to see what would be for later, and, you've guessed it, it was a sheep head soaking!

Threw up a lot that day!

I can remember being sent to the butchers when I was a child for a 1/4lb of Brawn which I believe was made of sheep's brain. It would be just after the war (no not WW1, it was WW11 honest)

Brawn is made from a pigs head, some people leave the brains in, some don't. Haven't made any for a few years now, much better and completely different to what you buy in a supermarket these days

I remember that Izal toilet paper, it was awful stuff, and the outside toilet at my Grandparents, it used to be freezing in the winter with the smell of the parafin lamp in the corner to take the chill away.
