My local archivesoffer both Ancestry and findmypast for free, I suggest you 'google' for your local archives to see if they offer them as well. Some libraries also offer findmypast - again you could find this using google  :)

The Wirral council does not specify whether they use findmypast or not. A search on google turns up nothing of any relevance to a town/city in a 50 mile radius.

For the Liverpool central library it says "You can also use our computers to search 'Ancestry' and 'Find My Past' websites for free. All research facilities are open during normal Central opening hours." Does this mean it covers the full subscription to these sites on the conputers or just search facilities

They should give you access to all the search results. Why don't you phone them tomorrow and ask?

(I do know that some libraries don't have access to the recent electoral registers)
